Agenda: Hollister School District board to talk new school name, added costs

The Hollister School District Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the district office at 2690 Cienega Road to consider the following:

Update on Citizens Advisory Committee for Public Name and Mascot Campaign

This report is an update on the “Citizens Advisory Committee for Public Name and Mascot Campaign” in regard to the new school in the Santana Ranch development off Fairview Road.

At the Feb. 16 meeting, the board approved a “Public Name and Mascot Campaign” for the new school. The Hollister School District Board has designated a Citizens Advisory Committee to coordinate all the information submitted and report to the board April 23. The Citizens Advisory Committee is of volunteers from the District’s Facilities Committee, Citizens Oversight Committee, a principal, teachers, a retired Hollister School District employee, representative of Anderson Homes, and a resident in the Santana Ranch housing development.

The Citizens Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet on March 14 and April 9 to discuss the campaign process, procedures and submitted names/mascots. The Citizens Advisory Committee will present the top three school and mascot names to the board April 23. At that time, the board will consider the information and may approve a name and mascot for the new school.

Increase the scope and cost for the New School at Santana Ranch           

It is recommended that the board approve Change Order #1 to Increase the Scope of Work and Project Cost for the Design-Builder Agreement between Hollister School District and John F. Otto, Inc. dba Otto Construction, Inc. for the New School at Santana Ranch. Additional items requested by the board include built-in cabinets/storage in each classroom, a bus shade shelter. Stair enclosures and linoleum flooring for the science, STEM and arts classrooms were also approved items on the list.

Report on 2017-18 Audit

The Board will hear a report on 2017-2018 Audit.

Approval of Special Education Contract with 101 Therapy Staffing for the 2018-19 School Year

It is recommended that the Board approve Special Education Contract with 101 Therapy Staffing for the 2018-19 School Year.

Approval of Special Education Contract: David Muñoz-Armas, Bilingual School Psychologist Services           

It is recommended that the board approve the special education contract with David Muñoz-Armas, Bilingual School Psychologist Services.

Approval of Special Education Contract: Gina Graham-Armas, psychologist services

It is recommended the board approve special education contract with Gina Graham-Armas for Psychologist Services.           

Approval of Master Contract between Hollister School District and Mountain Valley Child and Family Services, Inc.

It is recommended the board approve the contract between Hollister School District and Mountain Valley Child and Family Services, Inc.

Approval of Agreement Between Hollister School District and Vavrinek, Trine, Day and Co.

It is recommended that the board approve the agreement between Hollister School District and Vavrinek, Trine, Day and Co.

Approval of 2018-19 Second Interim Budget                   

It is recommended that the board approve the 2018-19 Second Interim Budget.

Approval of the Prop. 39 Facilities Use Agreement for the 2019-2020 School Year between Hollister School District and Navigator Public Schools, Inc. dba Hollister Prep School

It is recommended that the board approve the Prop. 39 Facilities Use Agreement for the 2019-2020 School Year between the Hollister School District and Navigator Public Schools, Inc. dba Hollister Prep School.

Approval of Updated Policies

It is recommended that the board approve approval of updated policies as presented.
