Water agency awards conservation video winners

Information courtesy of the Water Resources Association of San Benito County:

The Water Resources Association of San Benito County had a ceremony for winners of a recent water conservation video contest and made the winning videos available to the public.

The association held a ceremony for the winners (see video links below) of the inaugural Water Conservation Video Contest at San Benito High School on Tuesday. The ceremony took place in the new video studio at SBHS. All three winners were in attendance along with several high school staff members, Steve Delay, president of the school board and other students.

The object of the contest was to inspire others to save water by making a short newscast, skit, animation, commercial or music video. May is recognized as Water Awareness Month since it is the official start of our local irrigation season. Water use starts climbing until we peak in August or early September, then starts to decrease for the fall and irrigation should cease once our rainy season begins.

Customers of the City of Hollister, City of San Juan Bautista and the Sunnyslope County Water District are urged to call the Water Resources Association of San Benito County to have their irrigation systems checked for efficiency and to assist customers with setting up their irrigation controllers for the peak irrigation season. The service is free and an appointments can be made by calling (831) 637-4378 or emailing [email protected].
