Updated: Eight injured in major wreck on 156

The major accident Sunday night on Highway 156 resulted in injuries to eight people, including three minors, and involved three vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred just before 7 p.m. near Bixby Road.

A 29-year-old Manteca man in a 2016 Chrysler 200 was eastbound on 156 west of Bixby Road when he collided into the rear of a 2004 Acura TSX drive by a King City woman, age 24.

The collision forced the Acura into the westbound traffic, where it collided with a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by a Watsonville man, age 40.

A total of five adults and three children were transported to Natividad Medical Center with injuries. Other adults injured included a 25-year-old woman from King City, a 24-year-old man from King City and a 24-year-old male from Watsonville, according to the CHP.

Both lanes of traffic were closed for about an hour and 20 minutes, while neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors in the continuing investigation.
