Traffic stop leads to allegation of juvenile with gun, drugs

The Hollister Police Department arrested a local juvenile for possession of a firearm and drugs.

On Sept. 16 at about 6:57 p.m., Officer Evan Umstead was on patrol in the area of Apricot Lane and Westside Boulevard when he spotted a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Officer Umstead contacted the male juvenile driver and could smell the distinct odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, Officer Umstead located a loaded hand gun, suspected cocaine, Xanax, Fentanyl and a large quantity of Cannabis inside the vehicle.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of a loaded firearm and not being the registered owner, possession of a controlled substance while armed and possession of narcotics for sale.
