Town Hall to focus on medication abuse in county

Courtesy of San Benito County Public Health Services:

The San Benito County Opioid Task Force invites the community to the Town Hall on Feb. 8 to increase awareness of medication abuse in the county.

During the event, a small panel of speakers including Assembly-member Robert Rivas, emergency department chief from Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital, Treatment Providers, San Benito County Behavioral Health, First Responders, and a few community members who have been impacted by the epidemic will discuss the issue as it pertains to San Benito County.

In recent news, we have seen a spike of counterfeit pills laced with Fentanyl used by all ages of people in our county, our task force would like to proactively educate the community, adults and adolescents, to be aware and answer any questions they might have.

There will be information booths, free Narcan (overdose reversing medication) and training, free medication locking bags, free medication disposal envelopes, and free sharps containers for all who attend.

The event will also be translated live in Spanish.
