Suspects push their luck by cashing stolen lottery scratch-offs

Two suspects in a Hollister gas station robbery were identified on surveillance cameras after pushing their luck by cashing out stolen scratch-off lottery tickets.

Hollister police are seeking two suspects in a December robbery from a local Quik Stop gas station and need the public’s help in identifying them.

According to a police statement:

The Hollister Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of an armed robbery suspect.

On December 12, 2017 at approximately 12:36 am, Hollister Police Officers responded to the Quikstop gas station, located at 10 San Felipe Road, regarding an armed robbery with a gun that had just occurred.

Police arrived and spoke with the clerk who advised the suspect entered the store, waited for other customers to leave, pulled up his shirt to brandish a handgun in the waistband and demanded items. The suspect left with cartons of cigarettes, an undisclosed amount of money and CA Lottery scratchers.

Later that day, at approximately 8:22 am, the stolen winning scratchers from the robbery were cashed at the 7-11 store in Hollister, located at 915 San Benito Street, by another suspect. He was last seen leaving in the vehicle on the photograph attached.

Later that day, at approximately 9:22 am, more stolen scratchers from the robbery were cashed at the Quikstop store located at 8400 Church Street in Gilroy, CA by the first suspect. Both suspects were seen in the store together. After the scratchers were cashed, they both entered the same vehicle and departed.

SUSPECT 1 was observed to be the following: white unknown sex subject in their 20’s, short and medium build, with a red lips tattoo to the left side of the neck and possibly a nose ring. He was wearing a grey flannel jacket and jeans.

SUSPECT 2 was observed to be the following: Hispanic male in his 20’s, average height and weight, wearing a dark hat, black hoodie and black pants.

SUSPECT VEHICLE was observed to be the following: silver early 2000 model BMW wagon with a black front bumper, moon roof and a blue front dealer plate as seen in the photo above.

Anyone having information on this case or the other pending investigations is asked to call Officer Yamamoto at the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330. Persons wishing to remain anonymous can call the WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

This is one of the two suspects who cashed out lottery scratchers after the Hollister robbery.
