The Gilroy man accused of stabbing a juvenile at the Mission Oaks mobile home park has accepted a plea deal for time served and three years of probation.
A preliminary examination had been scheduled Nov. 2 for the Gilroy man accused of stabbing a juvenile during a cell phone robbery at the Mission Oaks trailer park in August. But instead, Adame has accepted a no-contest plea to the charges and the sentence of time served with probation, according to court records. That means his sentence is the time he already served since his arrest in August plus the probation.
The San Benito County District Attorney’s Office charged Christian G. Adame, 22, on suspicion of felony robbery with a special allegation of using a deadly weapon, according to court records. As part of the plea, the district attorney agreed to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor and drop a special allegation.
The hearing Nov. 2 was overseen by visiting Judge Lee Felice. Adame also has been ordered to pay restitution to the victim and has a restraining order to stay at least 100 yards from him.
On Aug. 19 at about 10:02 p.m., Hollister police officers were dispatched Hazel Hawkins Hospital where staff reported they were currently treating a juvenile for a stab wound.
The victim told police that earlier in the evening he was picking up some snacks at Quik Stop when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect asked if he was a gang member or affiliate. The victim replied he was not. The suspect then asked the victim for a ride to Mission Oaks Trailer park. The victim agreed to give him a ride.
Upon their arrival at the trailer park, the suspect asked the victim if he could use his cellular phone. The victim agreed and the suspect got out of the vehicle with the phone. The suspect refused to return the phone. The two argued for a short time before the suspect produced a knife. The juvenile victim pleaded with the suspect and asked him not to hurt him. The two began to struggle and the victim was stabbed. The victim managed to make it back into his vehicle and was able to flee. The victim was also able to provide police a good description of the suspect.
Police arrived at the park to investigate the incident further. They found the area where the crime had been committed and began to process the crime scene. Police helped to ultimately identify the suspect because of familiarity with him from previous contacts.
Officers searched the area and located the suspect nearby. The suspect was identified as Adame of Gilroy. He was found in possession of the stolen cell phone and taken into custody.
Adame was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and robbery. He was also booked on three outstanding warrants.
