State to reveal ballot qualifiers Thursday

California voters can expect a packed ballot in the races for governor and U.S. Senate come June, but Thursday will find out exactly who qualified as candidates.

The Secretary of State is expected to post the final list of certified candidates by Thursday, said Angela Curro, the assistant clerk/recorder/registrar in San Benito County. She warned of a big list in those statewide races, but also said changes to the ballots locally should prevent the need to go from two pages to three pages locally, saving a good amount of money for the county.

Currently, there are nearly 30 candidates declared for governor and more than 30 declared for the open U.S. Senate seat against incumbent Diane Feinstein.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Alex Padilla will release the list of certified candidates for the statewide ballot.

The local races are set. Some of those positions include two county supervisor seats, a contested judge seat, an open race for treasurer and a contested race for sheriff.
