Second Victorian Home Christmas Tour set for Dec. 7

For the second straight year, residents can tour historic Victorian homes for the holidays.

The Victorian Christmas Home Tour is set for Dec. 7. Participants can take the tour that includes seven historic homes along with stops at the Hollister Pregnancy Center and San Benito County Historic Museum.

The tour features six Hollister homes and an additional farmhouse in the San Juan Bautista area – with local wines and local restaurants’ food at the stops. There will also be carolers along the way, said Trisha Harvey, who’s organizing the event that will benefit the Hollister Pregnancy Center.

Harvey called it a “nice, elegant affair” highlighting homes from the 19th and 20th centuries.

“They’ll get to tour these homes with people that will know information about the homes,” Harvey said.

A map will help guide participants on the tour – which is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will culminate with a tree lighting at the Veterans Memorial Building in Hollister. Attendees are also invited to an after party at the GardenShoppe, Harvey said.

The event will be capped at 200 tickets at $40 each. Last year, the tour raised over $5,000 for the pregnancy center, she said.

Harvey said she hopes to draw enough interest to possibly expand to two nights next year, with one featuring more historic homes in San Juan. Interested residents can purchase tickets online at https://home-tour-2019.ticketleap.com/hpc.
