SBHS students pick custodian with lung condition as ASB Beneficiary

San Benito High School’s ASB (Associated Student Body) last Thursday selected Jesus Esqueda as this year’s ASB Beneficiary for the 2020-2021 school year and will be conducting a series of fundraisers to help him and his family.

Jesus, a custodian at Spring Grove School and Sacred Heart School, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and is currently on the transplant list at Stanford Medical Center. The family has been asked to raise $10,000 in order to meet the requirement from Stanford Medical Center to cover post-operation costs and medications.

Jesus’ wife, Esther, works in the cafeteria as a food service worker at Spring Grove School. Both of their children, Lupita and Jesse, are Spring Grove and San Benito High School graduates as well. His son, Jesse, works as a custodian at SBHS and takes care of the new swimming pools.

San Benito High School’s ASB will be working hard to help the family reach this goal. Sadly, their home flooded in September and whatever money is raised beyond the $10,000 will help them with that, as their homeowners insurance is not covering all of the cost.

Let’s help keep this family Baler Strong! The first fundraiser is Friday, Nov. 13 through Valley Pizzeria.
