SBHS principal pens welcome message for athletes

Dear Balers and Baler Parents:

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. As your Principal, I am looking forward to working with our students, parents, coaches and community members for another year of Baler Athletics.

The expectations of our student athletes’ academic performance and character during competition are higher than any wins and losses. I urge every parent and supporter of our student-athletes to ensure that academics precede any extra- curricular activity that their student is involved with. As they wear their Baler uniforms while in our community and when traveling to other communities, they are a direct reflection of San Benito High School. This brings an increased level of pride and responsibility for each one of them to carry themselves with the level of character reflected within our Baler STRONG Core Values.

It is no secret that there is a positive and strong correlation with academic achievement, character building and athletics. Our athletes continue to demonstrate that they are some of the highest performing students in our classrooms. It is also very common to see them involved in activities such as supporting our students with physical disabilities and volunteering in events within our community. We will continue to celebrate and support them while they grow into young leaders.

As a long-time resident of Hollister, I am proud of the community building our athletic program provides for our students, parents, alumni and residents. I look forward to meeting you and joining you all, as we support our student-athletes.

Go Balers!
