SBHS names Baler STRONG Students of the Week

Courtesy of San Benito High School:

San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth, representing the core values of San Benito High School. Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor. Here are the recipients for week of Dec. 2 to 6:

The P.E. Department nominated freshman Lillian Thrasher for Scholarship, stating she “has a great attitude and makes learning fun and enjoyable. She works well with others and is always ready to learn and grow. Her behavior spreads to others around her!”

The Math Department nominated two students for Nurture: senior Jeel Patel and junior Elizabeth Faith Zendejas, noting that they both help tutor Algebra 1 students in Academic Focus Time sessions.

The AVID Department nominated senior Kimberly Ramirez for Growth, saying, “Kimberly exemplifies an AVID and Baler STRONG student by being highly motivated, driven, and determined to succeed. She faced challenges early in her high school career and emerged stronger and wiser because of them. Kimberly has shown that AVID students will rise up to the challenges they face and surmount them.”

AVID also nominated junior Karen Balderas-Herrera for Nurture, stating, “Karen is the true representation of what an AVID student is all about at SBHS. Karen is always open to lending a hand to her classmates, dedicated to her academics, and excited to contribute to the AVID classroom. This year, she is excited to take lead in various AVID community outreach opportunities and excited to create a sense of family within the classroom.”
