San Benito High School’s art and ceramics classes are working on murals based on the school’s Baler STRONG core values, with students in Luisa Toste’s classes painting murals on canvas and Christina Ross’ students creating broken plate mosaics.
The murals will be displayed on campus in locations to be determined. STRONG is an acronym representing the school’s values of Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth.

Ross’ ceramics class is creating a tree, with three figures, and sun rays made out of relief tiles. Her other art classes are using the plates to create mosaics that focus on the values using images such as a graduation cap, the growth of a tree and a graduate reflecting on their education.
“It will be great to have so many different mediums and talents represented here on campus,” Ross said.
