According to San Benito County Fair CEO/Fair Manager Dara Tobias (a Baler alumna), the Youth Ambassadors (San Benito High School students) helped plan and execute the fair kickoff fundraiser that earned almost $50,000.
In an email to SBHS Principal Adrian Ramirez, Tobias said the Ambassadors “have helped many of our department chairs carry items and set up and decorate their displays. They are active in assisting the Livestock photographer place exhibitors for their photos. They are learning to keep records by helping clerk at different judging events. And are designing and setting up the kids’ area.”
The Ambassadors are responsible for planning and managing the Pee Wee Showmanship Show, in which more than 40 children learn about livestock showing.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to teach young people that hard work and service to the community can also be fun,” Tobias said. The San Benito County Fair runs through Sunday at Bolado Park.
