San Juan hiring for two key public works jobs

San Juan Bautista is hiring for two key public works positions.

The Mission City is seeking a new public works supervisor and a public works maintenance worker, according to posts for the city.

The public works supervisor role comes with a salary of $85,000 to $103,000, while the maintenance worker would earn $3,125 to $3,799 per month or up to $45,588 annually, according to the job posts.

The filing deadline is Oct. 12 for the supervisor job and Oct. 5 for the maintenance worker.

The job description for the supervisor reads as follows:

Under administrative direction, this position plans, organizes, leads and directs the operations and staff of the Public Works Department including maintenance of buildings, parks and streets, and operation and maintenance of the City’s water system and wastewater treatment plant. Develops and implement Public Works budgets, ordinances and policies. Performs special assignments as directed by the City Manager and City Council, and performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical combination would be five (5) years of full time work in public works administration, three (3) year of which must have been at a middle management level resulting in extensive experience in the direction and leadership of a public works agency. Experience in the maintenance of public works facilities such as solid waste systems and storm water systems. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related field.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a Level D-2 Water Distribution license and a T-1 Water Treatment license.
