San Benito Health Foundation to get $1.8M in ACA funding

Congressman Jimmy Panetta announced $1.8 million in federal grant funding for the San Benito Health Foundation awarded through the Affordable Care Act.

Today, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) announced that health centers in San Benito County and Santa Cruz County have received federal grants totaling over $3 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The San Benito Health Foundation has received a federal grant totaling $1,806,177 and Santa Cruz County has received a federal grant totaling $1,231,719.

“Community health centers and clinics are integral to our region’s health care system,” said Congressman Panetta. “These funds will help San Benito and Santa Cruz health centers to continue to provide their patients with quality health education and preventative services, and to promote healthy lifestyles.”

The funding for this grant comes through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Cluster grant program, which is one of many programs that distributes Affordable Care Act (ACA) funding to community health centers across the country. The purpose of the FY2017 health center program awards is to ensure continued access to comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services for communities and vulnerable populations currently served by the health care program.
