Rivas leads way in Assembly seat fundraising

Hollister resident Robert Rivas is leading the way with reported funding in the race for the open District 30 State Assembly seat against four other candidates who include Bill Lipe from Salinas, Peter Leroe-Munoz from Gilroy, Trina Coffman-Gomez from Watsonville and Neil Kitchens from Prunedale.
Rivas raised $198,958 through through April 21 in his bid for the District 30 State Assembly seat. According to campaign finance records filed with the Secretary of State, Rivas spent $174,915 and had ending cash of $185,911.
Next in line with fundraising was Lipe with $100,037 raised, $61,860 spent and $51,099 in ending cash.
Leroe-Munoz had raised $28,650, spent $63,158 and had $53,193 in cash.
Coffman-Gomez and Kitchens did not have dollar amounts on file with the secretary of state.
The candidates are vying to succeed Democrat Anna Caballero, who terms out this year and is seeking the State Senate District 12 seat.
