Residents asked for input on Dollar General prospects for west side

Dollar General is exploring the potential to build a store in a vacant lot across from the San Benito Health Foundation, which will host a community meeting tonight so residents can give input.

Hollister City Councilman Rolan Resendiz on social media promoted the meeting set for 6 p.m. at Calaveras Park and said he’s looking for community feedback on the matter. He said the Dollar General store reached out to him about prospects for the location.

Resendiz acknowledged it’s not really a council member’s role to decide which businesses should be opened, but is interested in hearing what people think about it.

“For me more than anything, I want to put it out there and let voices be heard early,” he said.

Resendiz did not have further details on the project other than the company is looking at building a location across from the health foundation on Fourth Street.
