Upon further investigation, Pompa found money and food items had been taken. He also observed video surveillance footage of the suspect. The suspect was identified as being local transient Steven Cardenas.

On Sept. 24, Pompa located Cardenas in the 300 block South Street. Cardenas was arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail on the charges of felony vandalism and burglary.
