Police arrest juvenile suspected of possessing gun

The Hollister Police Department arrested a local juvenile for possession of a firearm and alcohol charges, according to a press release from the HPD.

According to the statement:

On May 23, 2019, at about 10:45 P.M., Officer Pedro Torres was on patrol in the area of 335 Sixth Street and A Street when he spotted a vehicle with its brake lights out.  A traffic stop was conducted.

Officer Torres could smell an order of alcohol coming from the vehicle.  He learned all three occupants including the driver were juveniles.

During further investigation, Officer Torres found several containers of alcohol and a loaded handgun hidden, but easily accessible to the three juveniles.  It was learned that the firearm belonged to one of the juveniles who is a gang member.

The juvenile was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public, altering a firearm, minor in possession of live ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm while being a gang member, and possession of alcohol.
