Pedestrian struck and killed on Highway 25

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 25 on Friday night, a fire department official confirmed.

The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Highway 25 between San Felipe and Wright roads where a male with an unknown age was hit by a vehicle, said Capt. Rico Fisher with the Hollister Fire Department. Emergency responders found the male victim off the side of the road, Fisher said.

Fisher did not have a specific vehicle type available, but could confirm it wasn’t a truck. He also said the driver of the vehicle had no passengers.

There was no identity or age immediately available for the victim. The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate for an identification on the victim, Sgt. Adam Lobdell confirmed Saturday morning.

The California Highway Patrol would have a specific vehicle type and additional details on the collision, and its spokesman was not immediately available.

Traffic was diverted late Saturday on Highway 25 for an investigation.
