Obituary: Jose Francisco Curiel Castillo (1950-2019)

February 23, 1950 – March 25, 2019
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico
Resided in Hollister, CA

Francisco “Pancho” Curiel passed away peacefully at his home in Hollister, CA at the age of 69.

Pancho was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and came to the United States at the age of 22 to live with his brother, Aurelio Curiel, and resided in Hollister for the remainder of his life.

Pancho worked for Gilroy Foods for over thirty years and retired just after the passing of his daughter Teresa Curiel in 2010. He loved attending sporting events and watching futbol. “Arriba las Chivas Cabrones!” was one of his favorite comments during the games. He always told it like it was and gave his constructive criticism even if you didn’t want it. He also loved a good sale, whether it was something he needed or not. Yet nothing could compare to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will definitely be remembered for his one of a kind personality and his unique sense of humor.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Elvira Galindo of Hollister, his sons Fabian Curiel(Amber) & Carlos Curiel(Natasha) of Hollister, his grandchildren, Monique Villarreal, Angel Villarreal, Xzavier Villarreal, Moriah Villarreal, Jeremiah Curiel, and great-granddaughter Amaya Villarreal, his brother Aurelio Curiel(Maria) of Hollister, sister Martha Juarez(Ricardo) of Hollister, sister Teresa Curiel De Sanchez of Guadalajara, sister Lucila Gomez(Miguel) of Hollister and sister Cande Curiel de Mendoza of Guadalajara. Pancho is also survived by his uncles Alfonso Castillo(Estela), Manuel Castillo(Juanita), Antonio Gonzales & Irene Gonzalez all of Hollister along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Curiel, his nephew Omar Juarez, his brother Nicolas Curiel and his parents Aurelio Curiel Vargas and Maria Castillo, his grandmother Brijida Zepeda and his cousi Armando Castillo.
