Motorcycle rider killed on 101 over weekend

The local office of the California Highway Patrol reported a fatality over the weekend on Highway 101.

An unidentified San Jose man, age 30, died in the wreck that occurred at 5:10 p.m. Saturday on northbound 101 south of East Dunne Avenue.

He was northbound on a 2011 Yamaha in Morgan Hill. a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was northbound and began stopping for traffic ahead. The motorcycle driver was unable to stop and collided into the rear of the truck, ejecting the Yamaha rider onto northbound traffic. The man was pronounced dead at San Jose Regional Medical Center.

The second driver, a 45-year-old from San Jose, was not under the influence, while the motorcycle rider’s sobriety is still under investigation.
