LULAC, MACE honor scholarship winners at annual event

The League of United Latin American Citizens and Mexican-American Committee on Education held an annual scholarship awards event Wednesday at the Hollister Community Center.

The organizations handed out a total of nine scholarships this year, six from LULAC and three from MACE.

The LULAC winners were Adrian Gomez who’s attending CSUMB, Jakelin Linares who’s attending Gavilan College, Dennys Lopez Vega who’s attendingi CSU-Sacramento, Anai Murillo Gonzalez who’s attending CSU-Chico, Jasmin Castillo Rosales who’s attending UC-Davis, and Arely Melendez who’s attending UCLA.

MACE scholarship winners were Maria Lozano who’s attending Gavilan College, Jasmine Castillo Rosales who’s attending UC-Davis and Lopez Vega.

The two organizations hold their scholarship awards ceremony jointly on an annual basis.

“It’s an opportunity for us to award the funding we raised the last year to some very deserving students,” said Veronica Lezama, representing the organizations.
