Westbound State Route 156 will have a lane closure at the intersection with Union/Mitchell Road just outside of Hollister city limits for two days, on Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a grind and pave maintenance operation.

Motorists can use Hwy. 25 to U.S. Hwy. 101 as an alternate route. This roadwork consists of grinding and paving the right and left side wheel tracks at the intersection in order to replace the broken pavement and the traffic light’s loop that is not working properly for the timing of the overhead signals. The intersection will be on a four-way stop while repairs on the asphalt are being made. This roadwork is necessary to ensure the safety of travelers and is expected to complete on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Electronic message boards will be posted alerting motorists of this roadwork, which is being performed by the Caltrans Hollister Maintenance crew. Motorists can expect delays of 15-20 minutes.  The California Highway Patrol will be present to assist with traffic control and enforcement.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over slow down when driving through highway work zones.
