Hollister power outage affected 9,400 customers

A power outage in the Hollister area Saturday afternoon affected 9,400 customers and was caused by a bird flying into power lines, a Pacific Gas & Electric spokesman told San Benito Live.

The power outage occurred at 2:31 p.m. Saturday, and power was fully restored at 4:17 p.m., PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

“It was due to a bird that flew into our power lines north of our Hollister substation,” Guidi said.

The outage affected customers in Hollister along with the Tres Pinos and Paicines areas, he said.

There were no injuries reported in the incident, Guidi said.
