Hollister police request help identifying shoplifting, hit-and-run suspect

The Hollister Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of a man who is wanted for questioning regarding a shoplifting and subsequent hit-and-run traffic collision..

On September 2, 2019 about 1:38 p.m., Hollister police officers responded to the Safeway store located at 591 Tres Pinos Road regarding a reported a hit-and-run traffic collision. The responding officer discovered a collision occurred after an unidentified male had shoplifted items from the store.    

The investigation revealed a white male adult, pictured, had taken items from the store. The male then got into a silver, mid-sized SUV (possibly a GMC) and fled. As he was fleeing, the suspect vehicle hit another vehicle before leaving the parking lot.

The investigating officer was able to review surveillance footage and obtain still photos of the suspect and the vehicle in question. Initial efforts to identify the suspect have been unsuccessful and investigators are asking the public for their assistance in identifying the man depicted in the photo.
