Hollister police arrest two after brief standoff

The Hollister Police Department arrested two local men for violating a restraining order and obstruction, according to a press release from the agency.

According to the statement:

On Feb. 18 at about 10:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on the 800 block of Central Avenue on a report of a violation of restraining order. The suspect, Randy Casares Jr., 27, pictured with tattoos, was at the residence in violation of a restraining order.

When police arrived, Casarez fled out the back door and onto the neighboring back yard. Officers responded to the neighboring home.

Officers obtained permission from the homeowner to search the back yard for Casarez. Once in the back yard of the residence officers encountered Efren Villareal (28). Villareal also lives at the home and he eluded that he had the right to shoot officers because they had come onto his property.

Officers could see Casarez hiding behind Villareal. Villareal refused to cooperate when asked to show officers his hands after a very short standoff, Villareal was taken into custody. A loaded high-capacity gun magazine was found on his person. Casesrez was found hiding nearby and also arrested.
