Hollister Hills fire is now 100 percent contained

The vegetation fire at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is now 100 percent contained, according to Calfire.

Calfire downsized the estimated reach of the fire Thursday morning. It was originally reported at 50 acres, but it was 39 acres at 100 percent containment, according to a Calfire update posted shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday.

The fire was reported at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday between Hidden Valley and Grass Valley roads in the Cienega Valley, said Calfire spokesman Jonathan Pangburn that afternoon.

As crews were wrapping up the battle, there were no reported injuries in the fire, with about 40 firefighting crews on scene at some point during the incident. That fight has included use of air tankers stationed at the Hollister Municipal Airport.

The fire started outside the park but entered part of Hollister Hills. A cause has not been reported yet.
