Hollister district weighs Barr for interim superintendent

Hollister School District trustees Friday are set to consider hiring Dr. William Barr as interim superintendent following the departure of Dr. Lisa Andrew.

Barr is a former interim superintendent for San Benito High School and former superintendent of the Monterey County School District.

Barr’s contract says the deal would commence July 18. He would make $935 per day for 46 days of work, with provisions for extensions potentially lasting through next June. He would not receive health or vacation benefits.

Barr would oversee the district’s administration issues over that time and would report to the board of trustees, while expected to take part in district meetings as well. He would take over for Andrew, who resigned after two years on the job to lead a Silicon Valley nonprofit.

The Hollister district meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday at the district office, 2690 Cienega Road.

Look back for more.
