Hollister district town hall to focus on ‘Social Emotional Support’

Courtesy of the Hollister School District:

Dear Parents,

Please join us on Friday, August 7 at 5pm for a special “Parent Town Hall” focusing on Social Emotional Supports. Visit the district’s Youtube Channel to become a subscriber at youtube.hesd.org

The Social Emotional Town Hall will be moderated by Superintendent Diego Ochoa, Principal of Maze Middle School Diana Herbst, Principal of Ladd Lane Jeannine Ostoja, and Maze Middle School Science Teacher Barbara Penney.

Parents are invited to email questions to [email protected] so that the panel can answer those questions during the event. Parents are also invited to call (831) 630-6320 during the event to have their call answered live.

The district recently held a “Special Education Parent Town Hall” and a “Distance Learning Town Hall” on July 24 and July 31. The two videos have been viewed more than 2,500 times online. Superintendent Diego Ochoa said, “With everything that has taken place regarding COVID-19, we are finding that parents respond well to the Town Halls. I really like the fact that all parents can email questions before the event, call during the event, or watch the event at a later date/time.”

The district will also be producing “School Site Town Hall Events” starting at 5 pm from August 10-14. Each School Site Town Hall Event will feature the principal, teachers, and staff taking email questions and live questions. The district hopes that these events will help our community feel prepared for the 20-21 school year.

Since the beginning of school closures on March 16, 2020, the district has been increasingly utilizing the HSD Social Media Youtube Channel to communicate with parents. The site, which had less than 50 subscribers, has grown to over 1,000 subscribers. Videos posted on the Youtube Channel garner many views and inspire parent involvement in the district.
