Hollister City Council members approved the addition of a third monthly meeting, at least for the next half year.
Council members unanimously approved the item Monday.
Those meetings will take place at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month to go with regular meetings on the first and third Mondays of the month.
Officially, the third gatherings each month for six months will be designated as special meetings. Normally, there wouldn’t be general public comment during a special meeting, but the council voted to include a comment section in all of those meetings as part of the arrangement.
The idea came about from District 4 Councilman Marty Richman.
“I believe it’s really important to try,” he said at Monday’s meeting. “We’ve got a lot of stuff on our plate in my opinion.”
Mayor Ignacio Velazquez came around from his prior stance – he had been concerned about the potential for added costs – to support the idea Monday.
