High school to hold facility ceremonies

San Benito High School is set to hold two upcoming facility ceremonies.

The first one is scheduled for noon Jan. 25 when the school will officially name its wrestling facility after the late Judy Rider.

Then at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1, the high school will hold a grand opening for the new Science & Robotics Building.

The San Benito High School Board of Trustees on Nov. 19 approved the naming of the campus wrestling facility after former board member and wrestling supporter Judy Rider, who passed away in 2006. The dedication is the same day the Lady Baler wrestling team will host the Lady Baler Bash tournament on campus.

Judy Rider, who passed away in 2006, was an avid supporter of Baler athletics.

Rider was involved with Baler wrestling, football, baseball and band – and was a founding member of the Baler Education Foundation. She was also an SBHS board member from 1990 through 2006.

The Science & Robotics Building, meanwhile, is part of a series of projects funded by voter-approved tax measures.

The high school sent out invitations and is taking RSVPs for the ceremonies.
