HDA names Shaffer as new executive director

The Hollister Downtown Association today announced Corey Shaffer as the organization’s new executive director.

Shaffer takes over for former Executive Director Jeana Arnold, who took a role with Pacific Gas & Electric.

The announcement came at the HDA’s Nibble & Network event Wednesday morning at Johnny’s Bar & Grill.

Shaffer came to the HDA earlier this year as the farmers’ market manager/development coordinator. Previously, she worked for Out & About Magazine while focusing on the Hollister, San Juan Bautista and Gilroy areas.

“I was very familiar with the businesses down here,” Shaffer told San Benito Live.

She said she’s excited to work with community members and get out building relationships with local businesses.

“People are going to see a lot of me,” Shaffer said with a laugh. “We do have a lot of events coming up.”

She noted how there are four weeks left for the Downtown Hollister Certified Farmers Market, with the Lights On Celebration around the corner in late November.

At the Nibble & Network event, Johnny’s owner Peter Lago complimented Shaffer’s work with the HDA and noted how through collaboration, business had increased on farmers market days.
