Gilroy man killed in four-vehicle wreck on 152

A 41-year-old Gilroy man died in a three-vehicle wreck Sunday on Highway 152.

The California Highway Patrol reported the accident happened at 8:35 p.m. east of Bloomfield Avenue.

The unidentified fatality victim was eastbound on 152 in a 1996 Toyota Tacoma and attempted to turn left into a private driveway.

A 53-year-old Union City man was in a 2007 Sterling big rig eastbound, but failed to notice the Tacoma slowing and collided with the vehicle.

It prompted the Tacoma to travel into the opposite lane and collide with two other vehicles. The Gilroy driver was ejected from the Tacoma.

Four other Boulder Creek residents were sent to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with injuries.

Highway 152 was closed for approximately four hours due to the investigation, according to the CHP. At this time, drug and alcohol impairment do not appear to be a factor to this collision.
