Gavilan to present 25th annual health fair

Gavilan College is holdings its 25th annual Health & Resource Fair. It is free and open to the public on Wednesday.

Gavilan College’s 25th annual health & resource fair is free, open to the public, and offers services to anyone in the community. This event, which regularly draws over 1,500 visitors, is open to people of all ages. Any of the free tests can be performed on children, as long as a parent or guardian is present.

Visitors will have an opportunity to speak with 43 representatives from local organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association, Bay Area Cancer Connections, Bonita Springs Hospice Care, LLC, Breathe California of the bay area, California Relay, Community Health Partnership, Community Solutions, Department of child support services, Department of Rehabilitation, Discovery Counseling Center, Eye C Optometry, Foothill Community Health Center, Gavilan College Accessible Education Center, Hollister Pregnancy Center, Informed Choices, NAMI Santa Clara County, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, San Andreas Regional Center, San Benito County, Behavioral Health, San Benito County CHDP/Healthy Families, Santa Clara County Health – Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, SCC Public Health Department STD/HIV Prevention and Control, School Health Clinics Of Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County Vet Center, Starlight Reach, St. Louise Regional hospital, Valley Health Center Gilroy, Youth Alliance, and the LBTQ Youth Space.

Visitors can also get referrals for counseling, be tested for blood pressure, blood glucose, and HIV / AIDS (which is confidential and involves no needles). The Gilroy Lions Club will also be offering free vision screenings by a licensed optometrist, and free pregnancy testing will be available for women 18 and up.

It will take place at the Gavilan College Student Center at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., Gilroy. It is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.
