With torrential downpours and thunderstorms over the area Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Aromas and some other communities.

Northwestern Monterey County in central California... * Until 515 PM PDT. * At 314 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Salinas, Watsonville, Gilroy, Hollister, Corralitos, Freedom, Amesti, Prunedale, Interlaken, Boronda, San Juan Bautista, Aromas, Pajaro, Elkhorn, Las Lomas, Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley and Day Valley.
