Election: Loe, Hernandez ahead in District 3 race

Updated Wednesday

Pat Loe will run off against Peter Hernandez in the race for District 3 county supervisor.

The top two vote getters in the three-person race advance to a runoff in November. If one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, there is no runoff.

Loe had 46.4 percent of the vote with 485 votes. Hernandez had 31.1 percent with 326 votes. Richard Perez had 22.5 percent and 235 votes.

Loe served two four-year terms as District 3 supervisor before losing in 2010 to current Supervisor Robert Rivas, who is departing the role to run for State Assembly.

Hernandez is a Hollister School District trustee and co-owns Ohana Shave Ice in Hollister.

Perez is a parks and recreation commissioner in Hollister.

District 3 covers mostly south-central Hollister.
