Driver killed in weekend wreck on 152 near Lovers Lane

An unidentified person died in an auto wreck Saturday evening on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. on the highway just west of Lovers Lane and involved three vehicles.

An unknown fatality victim was westbound in a Jaguar going faster than the 55 mph speed limit.

For unknown reasons, the driver crossed a double-yellow line and began driving westbound in the eastbound lane, lost control and collided with a 44-year-old male from Ballico in a 2001 GMC who was eastbound at an unknown rate of speed, according to the CHP.

Both vehicles spun out of control and caught fire. That led to the fatality victim’s vehicle colliding with a 2019 Freightliner driven by a 41-year-old man from San Jose who was in the westbound lane at about 50 mph.

The victim’s vehicle then hit a retaining well and came to a rest, and the person was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The GMC driver was assisted out of his vehicle and transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center with major injuries.

All vehicles were driven by solo occupants, according to the CHP.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Uribe ID #21612 at (408) 848-2324.
