Details released on arrest related to burglary cases

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office released details Friday on the recent arrest made related to multiple burglaries in the Hollister area.
The sheriff’s office arrested 24-year-old Alfredo Zendejas in the case, according to authorities.
According to the sheriff’s office:
On 4/24/18, at approximately 0700 hours, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office (assisted by agents from the Unified Narcotic Enforcement Team (UNET) and the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team [CSET]) served a burglary-related search warrant in the 100 block of Sierra Court in the City of Hollister.
This warrant was written by Deputy Brandon Mingus after he had taken multiple theft/burglary reports in the neighborhood of Oak Creek and Quail Hollow in San Benito County. During this investigation, Mingus was provided video surveillance footage by some of the residents in the neighborhood. In fact, one of the victims in the case was able to post a “screen shot” of the suspect on “social media.” This post resulted in a “tip” the victim got as to the name of the suspect and the area where he was known to live.
That victim later went to the area of the suspect’s home, Sierra Ct, and saw the suspect walking in the neighborhood with some of the stolen property. Upon confronting the suspect, he fled on foot and was not located. This information was later passed on to Deputy Mingus.
Deputy Mingus then continued to follow up on the suspects name and located a residence that belonged to a family member on Sierra Ct. The suspect was supposed to be living in Ventura County. After it was established the suspect and his vehicle were frequenting the home, a warrant to search the home was issued.
As a result of the warrant service, suspect Alfredo ZENDEJAS was arrested after he attempted to flee the residence. He was found to be in possession of multiple items of stolen property. Some of the items did not match what had been taken in county cases, so Hollister Police Detectives were asked to come to the scene. HPD Officers responded, and were able to identify some of the items as having been recently stolen in city burglaries. In addition, ZENDEJAS was arrested for being a felon in possession of ammunition and for a violation of his probation terms.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank and commend the residents of Oak Creek and Quail Hollow for their collaborative effort in combating these burglaries in their neighborhood. It was through the vigilance and community effort shown by these neighbors, and victims, that this case was brought to a close.
