County homeless count drops by 46 percent

According to the county: As an official member of the Salinas/Monterey/San Benito County Continuum of Care, San Benito County is required to conduct a point in time Homeless Census every two years. The point-in-time census took place Jan. 31 in collaboration with community partners, and about 20 volunteers and staff members. This year’s count included homeless individuals in emergency shelters, living on the streets, in encampments, in vehicles and other locations deemed as unsuitable for human habitation.
