City, county extend animal control contract

The City of Hollister agreed to a deal that will extend the contract to provide animal control services in the county through June 2021.

The city contracts with the county to provide animal control services, and the two sides had been working under a month-to-month arrangement with the recent contract expiring.

According to the city council agenda:

“A new contract has been negotiated between city and county staff. The County will continue to pay 55% of the overall costs of Animal Care and Services Bureau, less the capitol costs and SCR911 charges and radio infrastructure radio contract costs. The new term will end in June 30th of 2021and automatically renew for two successive one year terms, unless terminated pursuant to the contract.”

The financial impact will include the county providing revenue of up to 55 percent of the operating costs minus capital expenses.
