CHP: Patrol car overturned after Honda crossed double-yellow

The California Highway Patrol reported details of Wednesday evening’s traffic wreck involving a CHP patrol vehicle on San Felipe Road south of Highway 156.

According to the CHP: When the patrol vehicle starting pulling away from the right shoulder of northbound San Felipe Road south of Highway 156 to conduct an enforcement stop on a Chevy truck, a Honda car coming from the opposite direction crossed the solid double-yellow line and collided with the truck.

After those vehicles collided, the Honda car lost control and struck the left side of the CHP’s 2016 Dodge Charger, which then overturned on the right shoulder of northbound San Felipe Road.

The 38-year-old CHP  officer from Gilroy was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital. The 34-year-old male driver of the 2006 Chevy Trailblazer from Gilroy did not get transported; neither did the 20-year-old from Hollister in the 2016 Honda Civic.

Alcohol was not reported as a factor, according to the CHP.
