Holiday Stroll in SJB

The Mission City’s shops will be open late for the annual Holiday Stroll from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown San Juan Bautista. An announcement for the event says visitors can shop, sip and mingle while enjoying refreshments at various stops along the way.

Hollister Hills Hare Ball

The event is described as family-oriented closed course hare scrambles. It will take place in the Upper Ranch area of Hollister Hills and requires Hollister Hills Off Road Association membership. First person price is $40 for pre-entry and $45 for post entry. A second family member is $20 pre-entry and $25 post-entry.

LULAC Veterans Day Breakfast

The League of United Latin American Citizens will put on its annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Sunday. It is from 7 a.m. to noon at the Community Center, 300 West St., in Hollister. An announcement on the event says Veterans Day is a time to pause and remember the service and sacrifice of all veterans who fought to defend our freedom. Join LULAC in a salute to our Veterans. Veterans Day Parade

The 17th annual Veterans Day Parade on Sunday in downtown Hollister is a chance to honor all veterans, but the event will put a special spotlight on the few remaining who served during World War II. This year, San Benito County’s World War II veterans will be honored as grand marshals of the parade. Volunteers with classic cars will provide transportation in the parade for these distinguished honorees, according to an announcement from organizers. Local car clubs will be involved helping to provide the transportation for this year’s parade on San Benito Street.
The parade, sponsored by VFW Post 9242, will be held as the finale for Veterans Day activities on Sunday, November 11, 2018. The parade starts at 1:30 pm and the parade route runs through downtown Hollister.
Other activities for the day that will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Building are:
10:00 am: Veterans Benefit Fair
10:30 am: Banner Presentations
11:00 am: Memorial Ceremony
12:00 noon: BBQ Lunch
The banner presentations feature installing banners on the light post in the Veteran’s Memorial Building Plaza and along San Benito Street that individually honor our local active duty military personnel.   The banners will remain in place until the service member is deactivated.
