Calendar Picks: Open Studios, Flamenco, theater on tap

In the mood for arts? You don’t have to go far this weekend. The following are some of the events happening in San Benito County in the coming days:
‘The Grunch’ opens
San Benito Stage Company is presenting The Grunch starting at 7 p.m. Friday. According to the local organization: Inspired by “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, The Grunch tells the story of Rudy Grunch, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an outsider. When the entire school gets excited about the annual school musical, he comes up with a perfect plan to ruin it for everyone; he’ll steal the sets, costumes and lights the night before it opens. But will the spirit of theatre prevail?
The show runs through April 28 on Fridays (7 p.m.), Saturdays (7 p.m.) and Sundays (2 p.m.).

  • Single Ticket (advance or at the door): $ 16.00
  • Senior/Student/Child: $ 13.00
  • Four tickets (advance sales only): $ 48.00

This year’s tour features 29 local artists and artisans and showcases works in painting, photography, pottery and ceramics, stained-glass, jewelry and more! Open Studios is a great way for locals and out of town visitors to meet the artists, view and purchase original works of art, learn more about the processes of art-making and enjoy a scenic tour throughout San Benito County.

Maps are also available at ARTspace at 240 Fifth St. in downtown Hollister or at the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce. Please call (831) 636-2787 or email [email protected] for more information.
