San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth, representing the core values of San Benito High School. Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor. Here are the recipients for week of February 3 to 7:
Nominated by the P.E. Department for Teamwork is sophomore Ethan Musgrave. His nomination form says that he is “supportive of others, a great influence in the class, and helpful!” Nominated by the P.E. Department for Opportunity is sophomore Eli Herrey Holdaway. Eli’s nomination form states that he is “self motivated and goes the extra mile…literally!”
The English Department nominated senior Bella Rivas for Scholarship, stating, “Bella enriches the class with her inquisitive approach to literature. Not one to succumb to senioritis, Bella consistently comes prepared and ready to ask deep, challenging questions. Her curiosity also extends to her work, and she regularly follows up on essay feedback, rewriting and improving her work when it doesn’t satisfy her. Bella has all the earmarks of a lifelong learner.”
Also nominated for Scholarship by the English Department was senior Maddie Smith. “Maddie is a dedicated reader and writer, consistently going beyond classwork requirements in AP Lit. Her level of preparation comes from a love of stories and language, and that passion is notable in her work. Despite her quiet persona, her insight enlivens small group discussions and enriches the class as a whole.”
