Authorities ID San Juan man killed in big rig accident on 25

Authorities have identified the San Juan Bautista man killed in Tuesday’s fatal crash involving two big rigs on Highway 25.

The fatality victim was Jorge Abonce Garcia, age 49, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The traffic collision involved two big rigs on Highway 25 at Bolsa Road. The accident happened at 7:36 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 49-year-old from San Jose in a 2008 Kenworth was turning left onto Highway 25. A Freightliner driven by the San Juan man was southbound on 25 but couldn’t stop in time, according to CHP.

The front of the Freightliner collided with the middle rear of the Kenworth trailer.

The force of this collision caused the Kenworth to overturn and come to a rest, blocking both lanes of 25.

The San Juan man was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. The San Jose man sustained minor injuries and refused medical transport.

Drugs and or alcohol do not appear to be a factors in this collision.
