Courtesy of Aromas Progressive Action League:

The November midterms were great for state and national Democrats, but what will the results mean for Monterey Bay area progressives? That will be the topic of an all-star panel discussion featuring four leaders of the local progressive movement.

The event, organized by the Aromas Progressive Action League (APAL), is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Aromas Community Grange. The Grange is located at the corner of Carpenteria and Rose Avenues in Aromas.

Panelists will be:

* John Laird, former Secretary of California Natural Resources, former state Assemblymember, candidate for California State Senate.

* Mark Stone, Assemblymember representing portions of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties.

*Dominic Dursa, member Executive Board California Democratic Party and CDP Chicano-Latino Caucus.

* Bruce Van Allen, trustee, Santa Cruz County Board of Education, former mayor, Santa Cruz.

APAL is a community organization formed after the 2016 presidential election. APAL is dedicated to developing leaders and supporting actions that preserve and enhance progressive mainstream values embodied in our Constitution that promises “the blessings of liberty” for all.

It is organized into several working groups that advocate action on climate change and preserving the environment, healthcare for all, improving access to quality public education and a study group that discusses threats to our democracy.
