District to weigh hiring new Anzar High School principal

The San Juan-Aromas Unified School District Board tonight will consider the appointment of a new principal.

The item is listed on the closed-session portion of the agenda for the meeting set for 6:30 p.m. at Aromas School, 365 Vega St., in Aromas.

According to the agenda, the board of trustees will take up the principal appointment matter in closed session. Afterward, the board will consider voting on the new principal in open session.

The district hasn’t named any finalists for the role. The chosen leader will succeed Anzar High School Principal Charlene McKowen, who is retiring after this school year after nearly two decades in the position.

Also on the agenda, the board in closed session will consider conferences with labor negotiators representing teachers and classified unions.
