Work on Pacheco Pass to prevent rock falls

Caltrans announced planned work on eastbound Highway 152 in the area for “rock fall prevention” work.

According to a statement from Caltrans, the state will perform rock wall scaling and slope cutting to mitigate rock falling into travel ways on the highway in the Hollister area and Santa Clara County.

One lane will be closed for crews to perform rope rappelling and rock scaling. Periodically, crews will shut down both lanes for safety clearance when needed.

The work is scheduled or March 17 and March 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Motorists may experience delays, while lane closure signs will be posted.

The California Highway Patrol will be on site, and all work is weather permitting.

Caltrans reminds people to drive safely through the construction zone and leave a safe traveling distance between vehicles.
